During a Shamanic Journey with Wendy Stofan Halley (see link under guest) we came across the following animals. I have attached a brief description to give a flavor of what it might mean if an animal enters your path, your thoughts, your dreams. The universe is trying to tell you something.
Kangaroo
Kangaroo signals that a nine-month cycle is at play. After starting a project, it will take nine months to mature and benefit you. After that, it is time to move forward and commit fully. Kangaroo only moves forward, never backward and Kangaroo people should do the same. Kangaroo also teaches how to balance the creative energies needed to complete your task. Those with a Kangaroo totem are given the strength and power needed. You will have the strength and stamina to continue, just as long as you go forward and not backward.
Owl
The Mystery of Magic, Omens, Silent Wisdom, and Vision in the Night. Cycle of power – nocturnal – year round.
The owl is the symbol of the feminine, the moon, and the night. The owl is the symbol of the darkness within – the place in which humans hide their secrets. One who works with owl medicine will be able to see and hear what others try to hide. You will hear what is being said, and you will see what is hidden or in the shadows. You can detect and pinpoint the subtleties. Owl people have a unique ability to see into the darkness of others’ souls and life. This vision and hearing capabilities has metaphysical links to he gifts of clairvoyance and clairaudience as well.
Deer
Gentleness and innocence – gentle luring to new adventure
Autumn and spring
Newborn protected from outside energy. This kind of attention and separateness enables the child to link with the family more strongly and protects the newborn from subtle outside influences. When deer show up in your life it is time to be gentle with yourself and others. A new innocence and freshness is about to be awakened or born. There is going to be a gentle, enticing lure of new adventures.
Polar Bear
Awakening the Power of the Unconscious.
Cycle of Power – Spring and Summer
The bear teaches those with this totem how to go within to find the resources necessary for survival. The bear can teach you to draw upon all of your inner stores of energy and essence even those which have never been tapped or accessed. Meditating and working with bear will help you to go within you soul’s den your inner sanctum- to find your answers. Bear medicine can teach you to go deep within so that you can make your choices and decisions from a position of power. Association with trees (ability to climb). The tree is a powerful and ancient symbol (Wendy Maple), just like the bear. It is a natural antenna, linking the Heavens and the Earth. It represents knowledge. It is a symbol of fertility, of things that grow. Bear and tree teach us to go within and bring out into the work and apply it. The polar bear has no fear.
