July 10th, Dan Caro, author of ‘The Gift of Fire:  How I Made Adversity Work for Me’, joined Connect.  Dan started the hour by describing what he believes the meaning of life to be.  He discussed the accident which changed his life.  Dan talked about his life and his healing.  He explained what led him to write his book and what his life purpose is.

June 12th, 2010, Ron Koss, author of ‘The Earth’s Best Story:  A Bittersweet Tale of Twin Brothers Who Sparked an Organic Revolution’, joined Connect.  Ron told his story of creating the first organic food, baby food, to sit beside mainstream competitors on the nation’s supermarket shelves.  He discussed the importance of being passionate and persistent about your ideas.  And how those ideas may change the world.

June 5th, 2010, Sandy Morningstar, Body-Centered Therapist, joined Connect.  Sandy and Amy discussed what psychotherapy is and how it works.  They discussed some of the most common issues and concerns that bring people into therapy.  Sandy discussed different theories and styles of therapy, including body-centered therapy.  They also discussed some of the most challenging behaviors to work with.  The value of therapy was stressed.

May 29th, Duane Bowers, LPC and author of ‘Guiding Your Family Through Loss & Grief’ , joined ‘Connect.’  He started by defining trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  Duane discussed traumatic events that would qualify as PTSD, such as war exposure and sexual abuse.  He explained the impact of these events on the brain.  Duane discussed various healing strategies.

May 8th, Kenneth Cohen, Qigong master, health educator and author of ‘The Way of Qigong: the Art and Science of Chinese Energy Healing,’ joined Connect.  Ken defined Qigong and explained how Qigong will improve health and harmony of mind and body.  He reviewed a variety of research that supports the therapeutic and healing value of Qigong.  The interview concluded with Ken describing his own personal journey with Qigong.

April 3rd 2010, Dr. Vaidya Mishra, Ayurveda practitioner, joined Connect.  Dr. Mishra explained the ancient healing tradition of Ayurveda to our audience.  He emphasized the importance of assessing all aspects of the individual rather than simply the body.  This assessment includes mind, soul and spirit.  Dr. Mishra will be in Vermont April 14th through the 18th, hosted by Ginna Bourisseau of Tulsi Tea Room in Montpelier.  April 16th, starting at 7pm, Dr. Mishra will have an open meeting.  April 17th and 18th he will be teaching classes on Daily Detox and Women’s Health respectively.  For more information on these events contact Ginna at 802-793-2326.

March 20th 2010, Dr. David Curry, APRN, joined Connect.  David reviewed the anatomy and physiology of the heart.  He explained the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (a-fib) and how it is treated.  David described physical conditions that present as chest pain, though originate from other organs.  Some examples of these include heartburn, gastritis, gallstones and more.  Get a better understanding of cardiac and GI issues by listen to Dr. Curry.

March 13th 2010, Sandy Morningstar, Body-Centered Therapist, joined Connect.  We discussed barriers to our healing such as our beliefs, lack of forgiveness, and self-acceptance.  We talked about the role of our unconscious beliefs, such as ‘I can’t', in preventing healing.  Sandy discussed the energetic effect that our lack of forgiveness can have on our health.  She then reviewed those things that enhance our ability to heal.

February 27th 2010, Dr. Judith Orloff, author of ‘Second Sight’ and ‘Positive Energy,’ joined Connect.  Dr. Orloff explained why she wrote ‘Second Sight’ and why it took six years to write.  She discussed how she blends her work, as a medically trained psychiatrist with her intuitive abilities, in her practice.  Dr. Orloff emphasized the value of connecting with our intuition and strategies to do so.  Listen to Dr. Orloff describe which chapter is her favorite and why.

Vermonthealers.org Board members, Marie Frolich and Dr. Jae Ehrich, joined ‘Connect’ to discuss their Expo coming March 27th in Montpelier.  Saturday March 27th from 9am to 4pm at the Vermont College Gym in Montpelier you will find vendors and workshops galore.  The Expo is Free.  Workshops will cost $5 each.  The event is being sponsored by Hunger Mountain Coop, Newchapter, Cabot Vermont and City Market Place.
